DroneDeploy alternative

A DroneDeploy alternative that logs the flights flown in DJI Pilot 2

If you need another mapping tool, FlybyOps isn't one: it makes no maps, models or inspection findings. If you're looking at DroneDeploy's Drone Operations Management to run the programme itself (the pilots, aircraft, flights and what went wrong), that's the job FlybyOps does. FlybyOps' Flight Sync records flights flown in DJI Pilot 2 straight from the controller.

That changes what ends up in the log. DroneDeploy's help centre describes automatic flight logs for flights flown in DroneDeploy's own app. A flight flown in DJI Pilot 2 is outside that app, so it goes into the log as a record someone types in. Every FlybyOps plan starts with a 14-day free trial, no credit card needed.

Which flights reach DroneDeploy's flight log

DroneDeploy's app records the missions flown in it, automated or manual, with detailed telemetry on supported DJI and Skydio hardware. Its help centre adds one catch: the app stops recording if the pilot switches to the DJI app during the flight.

Flights flown outside the app, such as in DJI Pilot 2 or on an Autel or Wingtra drone, go in as custom records. That's a pilot, a drone, a date and time and some notes, typed in by hand, with no flight path or battery data. Custom records come with Enterprise and Drone Operations Management.

FlybyOps starts from the controller. Connect a DJI Pilot 2 controller to Flight Sync once, which takes about two minutes, and every flight flown with it is recorded with its full GPS track, altitude, speed, battery and signal quality. That covers the M300 RTK, M350 RTK and M400, the M30 and M30T, the Mavic 3 Enterprise and Thermal, and the Matrice 4E and 4T. Earlier DJI flights can be added by uploading their flight logs, and flights on other makes are entered by hand in FlybyOps too.

What DroneDeploy's operations module keeps, beside FlybyOps

DroneDeploy says Drone Operations Management covers "equipment registration, maintenance, pilot certifications, and compliance." Its column below comes from DroneDeploy's help centre and pricing page, and FlybyOps' from its pricing and feature pages, as of October 2026.

DroneDeploy and FlybyOps: common questions

Is Drone Operations Management part of DroneDeploy's published plans?
No. DroneDeploy's help centre says the module is for Enterprise customers and asks you to talk to its team about adding it. The pricing page publishes two one-seat plans, at $4,188 and $1,908 a year, and quotes team plans and add-ons on request. New users get a 14-day free trial, no credit card.
Do we still need DroneDeploy if we use FlybyOps?
For maps, models and inspection reports, yes, because FlybyOps makes none of them. The site data can stay in DroneDeploy while the programme runs in FlybyOps: the project and job, the pilot, the aircraft and its maintenance, the risks and any incident. A DroneDeploy map report can be attached to the FlybyOps flight log it came from.
What happens to the flights we've already logged in DroneDeploy?
They stay in DroneDeploy, where each flight log can be downloaded from its details page. There's no importer from DroneDeploy into FlybyOps. Flight Sync records flights from the day a controller is connected, and earlier DJI flights can be added by uploading their DJI flight logs.
Does FlybyOps track maintenance, or only whether a drone works?
Both. Every aircraft, battery and payload carries its utilisation, availability, maintenance status and asset history, and drones, batteries and cameras found in a flight log are added to equipment automatically. Business plans add preventive maintenance schedules, so the next service is planned before an aircraft goes out of action.
